Hot to format a floppy using a usb drive

Hi,

I do have a Sony USB FDD controller. It shows up as /dev/sda (as most
USB storage devices). The problem is, how to format it (tracks, not
filesystem)? fdformat refuses to work with the /dev/sda device.
