The disk isn't offline, this refers to S.M.A.R.T off-line testing 
(testing in background when the disk is idle). See "man 
smartctl".

No. Fsck is for correcting logical errors in the filesystem, this 
is a hardware problem in the disk drive. Back up all data and 
replace the drive.
