And thats sound more like a driver/hardware miss-match to me, Claude.
I think I'd take this to the alsa-user@xxxxxxxxxxxx list, posting the 
appropriate stanza of an lspci -vv output, and an lsmod.   Also the mobo 
model & bios revision loaded.  It could also be something that a newer 
alsalib might fix.  Those guys, Lee Revel in particular, seem to track 
this sort of thing down in good time.  You may have to subscribe to post, 
I've forgotten.
