Yow nice one!  Never knew for could do that directly.  When I lack
knowledge, I know it is time for a dirty hack.

for i in `ls *\ * | tr ' ' \|` ; do j=`echo $i | tr \| ' '` ; sox "$j"
-r 44100 "output_$j"; done

Almost there! It does not work, for example, in the following case:

12\ Missa\ brevis\ in\ G,\ KV\ 140App,\ C1.\ 12\ Agnus\ Dei.wav
