Hey! I resemble that remark! :) I use XFCE, and I run Evolution too ! It's for "backward compatibility" with Microsoft Outlook. Anyway, I have to say that I have no idea why the icons don't display. Are the icons installed in the first place? My Evolution looks fine (so far).
