I've got lots of buttons on my new mouse, and I'm wondering if there is any way to teach linux (at some appropriately low level) that one of the buttons should act like a double click of button 1? I don't see anything obvious in the xorg.conf docs or the xmodmap man page.
Double-clicks are processed on a much higher level than that. If there's anything like that, it would have to be a configuration setting on the Gnome or KDE level. I _don't_ recall ever encountering anything like that, but you might want to run this one by a more appropriate Gnome or KDE-related mailing list.
