Yeah I thought about why I didn't mention processors, etc in my reply, and I 
still don't have an answer.  :)

Regardless, that scenario of the OP is exactly my situation, I run almost 
entirely x86_64 CPUs with SATA (and SATA2) drives as boot and RAID drives. I 
have 2 servers running Opterons that haven't been rebooted since FC5 was 
released.  These are a combination of fresh installs and upgrades and I've 
seen no trouble out of either type.  Based on the fact that the OP had drives 
dying, it sounds like the drives he had FC5 on weren't good to begin with.

Honestly, nothing annoys me more than a post (or phone call, face-to-face, 
etc) where someone says, 'It's broken' and nothing else.  Being a Sysadmin 
for as long as I have this is my one pet peeve.
