Personally I would say not. > > Chris The thing is, the " Preferred Applications" tool doesn't just control Gnome apps. It's a tool for setting defaults for the Web Browser, Email client, etc. Gnome is the default desktop installed with Fedora, so it's logical that the defaults set in "Preferred Applications" are going to be for Gnome apps. In the case of the Email client it's set for Evolution, and the Web Browser is set for Mozilla. I also put KDE on my Fedora installs because I prefer it, and in this case "Preferred Applications" gives me a choice of E-mail clients. Evolution, KMail, Mozilla Mail, and Mutt. I have no idea what it would have looked like prior to installing KDE, which was done at install time, but presume that the only addition to this tool would have been Kmail. The same goes for the default Web Browser. Mozilla is set as default, but with KDE also installed, Konqueror is added to the list of possible Web Browsers to be used as default. I've no idea if this tool is a part of Gnome, or if it is just a Fedora tool for setting defaults for Email clients, Web Browsers, etc. Either way, logically it should be accessable from both Gnome, and KDE, if you have that installed as well. I know it's accessable in KDE on FC2, as I'm looking at it at the moment, but no longer in KDE on FC5.
