Im trying a FTP install for the first time.
I made a subdirectory under my ftp tree,
/home/ftp/fedora5/ftp-install
and put in it
base, RPMS, TRANS.TBL, RELEASE-NOTES and RELEASE-NOTES-en.html
When I try the install, I first gave it the directory
fedora5/ftp-install
but that errored out, saying that it couldnt find the directory repodata .
I found that odd, but then gave it
fedora5/ftp-install/RPMS
and it seemed happy.
But only for a step or two.
After I had given it the root password (twice) and hit return, I got a screen
that said 'Exception Occurred" and "An unhandled exception has occurred ... "
with NO details.
So my questions are:
(1) Is this a known problem with the FTP install in Fedora5?
(2) Did I miss something in my install above?
(3) and what about this bit of having to go down to RPMS in specifying a
directory? If thats the case the install program would have to back up
to get to the files in the directory above it, which seems dangerous
(symbolic links, ...)
Any and all thoughts appreciated,- this looks like a neat way to do the
install on multiple machines, if only I can get it to work.
I think you need the "Fedora" directory and the "repodata" directory in
your "ftp-install" directory.
Paul.
