The remote_server must be running XDMCP. Also, it must have port 177 open in its
firewall.
The X server machine (the one on which you run X :1) must have port 6001 open to
allow X clients to connect back to the X server which is started (each X server
listens, by default, on port 6000+display number, so :0 is 6000, :1 is 6001 etc.).
