If you are comfortable trying totally untested kernel patches (well, I did end up booting this patch just to see that it works at all - but I obviously wasn't able to check whether it will actually output anything valid), here's a patch for you to try. It _may_ give more information about exactly which wait-queue (or rather, what the poll function that was related to that wait-queue) seems to be corrupted.

Okay folks, I'm reviving this thread [1]. Since Linus' patch [2] (thanks to Dave Jones for the RPM [3]) the system is still crashing. The only reason I haven't revived this sooner is because I've moved all but one service off of that machine so that now if it crashes, it's not as critical (it only takes down one of three DNS servers.) However, I'd still like to get the problem resolved somehow.

Unfortunately I'm noticing that now when it crashes, there's absolutely nothing recorded anywhere. Before the patch I could capture stuff in /var/log/messages. Now, nothing. It just dies.

So I thought, before I write this off and reformat the drive and install FC5, is there anything else that I can do to try and track the problem down. Could it potentially be hardware, and if so what?

   Any help?

[2] Funny, none of Linus' messages are in the archives...

W | It's not a bug - it's an undocumented feature.
