I think you may be confused by the naming. FC5 x86-64 kernels are *all*
SMP, so there's no need for "smp" in the name.

(Consider the way the FC1 2.4 kernels had "nptl" in their name, since
Red Hat backported the NPTL support from 2.5. All 2.6-based kernels have
support for NPTL, so there's no point putting it in the kernel name).

As for your big server, what is it running? Is the program
multi-threaded?
