Hi all, I'm experiencing a bad behavior of ntp server. Normally I start my laptop without network, and after boot, I choose which IP address to use because I'm often moving to customers network. So the ntpd start in init.d skip the ntpdate command. Now I'm in this situation: ntpdate -q 0.it.pool.ntp.org server 212.97.63.99, stratum 2, offset -70.875654, delay 0.09512 server 213.174.171.174, stratum 3, offset -70.870584, delay 0.08322 server 146.48.83.182, stratum 2, offset -70.872797, delay 0.08078 server 62.94.26.10, stratum 2, offset -70.864611, delay 0.11919 server 62.101.81.203, stratum 2, offset -70.872570, delay 0.08966 server 62.152.126.5, stratum 3, offset -70.874402, delay 0.07587 server 85.18.29.238, stratum 3, offset -70.848981, delay 0.07518 But if I stop ntpd and restart it the output is: Arresto di ntpd: [ OK ] Avvio di ntpd: [ OK ] without the Synchronizing with time server My ntp.conf is: restrict default nomodify notrap noquery restrict 127.0.0.1 server 0.it.pool.ntp.org server 1.europe.pool.ntp.org server 0.europe.pool.ntp.org server 127.127.1.0 fudge 127.127.1.0 stratum 10 driftfile /var/lib/ntp/drift broadcastdelay 0.008 keys /etc/ntp/keys restrict 0.pool.ntp.org mask 255.255.255.255 nomodify notrap noquery restrict 1.pool.ntp.org mask 255.255.255.255 nomodify notrap noquery restrict 2.pool.ntp.org mask 255.255.255.255 nomodify notrap noquery restrict 0.it.pool.ntp.org mask 255.255.255.255 nomodify notrap noquery restrict 1.europe.pool.ntp.org mask 255.255.255.255 nomodify notrap noquery restrict 0.europe.pool.ntp.org mask 255.255.255.255 nomodify notrap noquery and in the messages I found this: ntpd 4.2.0a@xxxxxxxx Thu May 11 09:20:10 EDT 2006 (1) precision = 1.000 usec Listening on interface wildcard, 0.0.0.0#123 Listening on interface wildcard, ::#123 Listening on interface lo, 127.0.0.1#123 Listening on interface eth0, 192.168.1.22#123 kernel time sync status 0040 frequency initialized 79.927 PPM from /var/lib/ntp/drift getaddrinfo: "0.pool.ntp.org" invalid host address, ignored and no sync is made. I can't figure out how can I solve the problem. Can anyone help me? Tnx Ambrogio -- fedora-list mailing list fedora-list@xxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list
