Well, that must have been an issue with the explicit paths then as I did get warnings about non existent characters for some locales that disappeared after gunzipping first. Leonard. P.S. Just had the brilliant idea that I might slash quite a bit out of glibc (200 x 200KB for LC_CTYPE only) by hard linking some of the LC_CTYPE and LC_COLLATE files as there appears to be quite some redundancy there, which I noticed as one of my generated files was identical to an existing one.
