Thanks, Chris. What I am intending to do is to write some notes (for students) about how to use a program. For those notes I need to insert some screen-shots. However, from what people have discussed here, it seems quite difficult to have screen-shots that print well on paper. Thus, in this case, it seems more efficient to sacrifice print quality to avoid all efforts to filter images in order to have them looking better on paper. I would have yet Inkscape (and other programs to draw) to imitate the screen-shots, but it is too much time consuming.
