Any way, you accomplish your task by using a script that comes with your gnome-screensaver package: /usr/libexec/gnome-screensaver/migrate-xscreensaver-config.sh The best way I found to use it is to cd to the directory that holds your screensaver themes: cd /usr/share/gnome-screensaver/themes then run the script pointing it at the folder containing your xscreensaver*.xml files. so as one line it looks like: /usr/libexec/gnome-screensaver/migrate-xscreensaver-config.sh /usr/share/xscreensaver/config/*.xml That should do it. Just run the screensaver preferences to see all of the savers. Be sure also that you have installed the xscreensaver packages.
