I don't *know* if it works the way I described; I may be wrong. For all
I know the rpm file format might include a table of contents at the
start of the file, and rpm might do something clever like a byte range
request on web servers that supported it so as to download the first
part of the file with the contents without having to download the rest,
in which case what you described would indeed be better...
