No idea, but you don't just "mount" LVM partitions. You need to run vgscan first, activate the volume groups and then you can mount the logical volumes.

Is there a guide to recovering data from them?  So far I've kept
everything critical on hand-configured RAID1 partitions because
I know how to recover data from any single disk that might be left
after a disaster.

I run LVM over RAID1 for the same reasons.
