Oh, gosh, no.  That's really quite low for 10 Mbit, the original.  I expect
to get nearly 1 MByte/sec on my 10Base-T connection between my old Mac and
Linux machines, using Netatalk, doing large Finder-copies.  If I had 100
Base-T on both ends (if I could get the driver working on MacOS 8.6) I'd
see much higer speeds.  Gig-E should be able to do 50 MBytes/sec or more,
depending on hardware, etc.
