First it *is* ro root=LABEL=/ rhgb quiet
One place that you might want to check, is your root line. On my machine it
says:
root (hd0,2), *not* root (hd0,0).
Just for fun try editing the root line so that it says (hd0,2), save then
reboot and see if that does the trick, if not you can always change it back
(use knoppix 10 mount the partician , se;lect actions--> make writable
then edit menu.lst in GRUB and save.)

and said to use /dev/hda3 for swap, not LABEL=SWAP-hda3
Could you ungzip your initrd-2.6.15-1.2054_FC5smp.img file and extract
it with cpio and show the contents of the init file?
Done. Okay, the main thing I think you'll be interested in is
resume LABEL=SWAP-hda3

mkrootdev -t ext3 -o defaults,ro hda1
echo Mounting root filesystem.
mount /sysroot
Okay, it would seem to point to the use of "hda1" as label/dev is
wrong?? Shouldn't it say either /dev/hda1 OR LABEL=/
