agetty?
Just add: "s0:12345:respawn:/sbin/agetty -L ttyS0 57600 xterm-color" to
your /etc/inittab file.
Where:
12345 - init level.
-L ttyS0 - Serial device.
57600 - speed in BPS.
xterm-color - terminal emulation (E.g. vt102/vt220/xterm/etc)
