Not being familiar with 64bit, when it comes time to install, do I just let the install process do a 64bit install and will 32bit still be supported? Or, install with 32bit and add 64bit after? I really am clueless. This will be another learning curve... no problems only opportunities? <cringe> RicRickey Moore wrote: > On Sun, 2006-06-04 at 23:12 -0500, Rod Haper wrote: > I'm getting a new Athlon 64 machine this week (finally!!) to replace > this ole AMD P3 clunker and I'm darn near seriously worried about > installing FC5 to it. Ric Download an FC5 iso before you go to the PC shop. Get on friendly terms and get them to show you a machine with same MB/CPU/chipset etc, and do an install there and then. That way you will know for sure. Even better use an updated iso (ie fedora-updates up until 1 month ago get installed during the install process). Look at reviews of the motherboard you are thinking of getting, and it's current status with linux - before you buy. http://www.linuxquestions.org/hcl/ for various bits you might want to use. Unless of cours, you are a kernel or driver hacker ready for the thrill of hassling the manufacturer to give you any info at all to create a driver from ;)
