Don't upgrade the kernel.
Keeping the 1369 kernel is indeed what I wound up doing.
Also, you do realize there is a respun version of FC5, that includes all
the updates so far, including kernel 2.6.16-1.2122_FC5, so you could
have 2122 right out the box, without yum'ing an update.
Maybe 2122 fixes all the issues you're having with 2111; just booting
the DVD in rescue mode, should be enough to tell.
