external usb drive mounts multiple times

Hello All,

How do I keep an external USB hard drive from mounting multiple times?
It doesn't matter what I put in the fstab file. Say I start with this
line:

/dev/sda1 /media/usbdisk vfat pamconsole,exec,noauto,utf8,managed 0 0

The drive will be up and I'll be playing music off it when suddenly for
no apparent reason the system mounts a second USB drive -- which is
actually the same one. The music stops. The additional line in fstab
is:

/dev/sdb1 /media/usbdisk1 vfat
pamconsole,exec,noauto,fscontext=system_u:object_r:removable_t,utf8,managed 0 0

and so on, every 30 minutes or so, with a new icon on the desktop each
time. Only the most recently mounted "drive" is accessible.

Also I'd appreciate a link to some information about how FC4 (or FC5)
handles USB devices like external hard drives.

Thanks,
Jerry
