FC5 freeze issue

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi All,
Lately, I have been experiencing a random freeze issue on my HP compaq
nx9010 notebook. I originally thought this may have been due to an
over-heating issue as I had a similar problem last year, but replacing
the heatsink compound fixed this problem.

What tends to make me thinks its a linux problem is that my comp has
never freezed in Windows (XP SP2).

I have tested the memory (DDR SODIMM 512MB) with memtest86+ v.3.2. and
it all comes up clean.

I am yet to run the built-in HP BIOS HDD test, I will do this tonight,
and let you know how I go.

Once the freeze occurs I am unable to ping the computer's NIC. Am unable
to switch to 'init 3' by 'Ctrl+Alt+F1', and unable to restart the
X-server by 'Ctrl+Alt+Del'.

Was wondering if anyone else could provide some insight ... perhaps a
bugzilla report is required should a solution not be sought through this
list.

If anyone can suggest extra logs to post to this list / investigate.
Just let me know.

I have pasted below my /sbin/lspci -v output in quoted text below:
