Was the PS file created using dvips? Then it may possible it includes
bitmap, and not outline, fonts. These will render poorly in PDF. If
you have the original tex file you need to recompile it and run it 
through dvips. The FC TeX setup should automatically use Type1 fonts
except if you use T1 encoding. If you only have the PS file you are
out of luck.
