Does the DVD pass mediacheck? If it doesn't pass, and many good media won't, copy the DVD onto the machine with Paul Howarth's isograb script at <http://www.city-fan.org/tips/IsoImageFromMedia> and compare an sha1sum of it with the original SHA1SUM. (Note that the kernel "issue" that fouls up mediacheck also makes "dd if=/dev/dvd bs=2048 count=$(isosize -d 2048 /dev/dvd) | sha1sum" fail as well.) It would be best to do this on the laptop, if it has room for the DVD image, as the laptop is clearly having some problem with the DVD, but doing it on whatever computer the DVD was made on would also be useful. Perhaps the DVD should be "finalized". Note that the hacked cdrecord can properly burn DVD-R, but has no knowledge of DVD+R. Some say it works, but it doesn't work for me, though growisofs does. A network or hard-disk install might be a workaround if the laptop's DVD drive has issues. ____________________________________________________________________ TonyN.:' <mailto:tonynelson@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> ' <http://www.georgeanelson.com/> -- fedora-list mailing list fedora-list@xxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list
