Kernel Panic upon compiling kernel-2.6.16.13

Hi,

 

   I have installed Fedora Core 5 with kernel version 2.6.15.

Now i have updated and compiled the kernel version 2.6.16-13 with more debug statements.

 

When i rebooted the system after compilation its not able to boot. Its giving kernel panic :

 

   Kernel Panic not syncing : VFS :Unable to mount root fs on unknow-block(0,0)

 

The grub file is :

 

       default=0
       timeout=10
       splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz
       hiddenmenu
       title Fedora Core (2.6.16-Kernel-2.6.16.13.EL.PTY)
          root (hd0,0)
        kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.16-Kernel-2.6.16.13.EL.PTY ro root=LABEL=/1 rhgb quiet
        initrd /initrd-2.6.16-Kernel-2.6.16.13.EL.PTY.img
        title Fedora Core (2.6.16-prep)
        root (hd0,0)
        kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.16-prep ro root=LABEL=/1 rhgb quiet
        initrd /initrd-2.6.16-prep.img
        title Fedora Core (2.6.15-1.2054_FC5)
        root (hd0,0)
        kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.15-1.2054_FC5 ro root=LABEL=/1 rhgb quiet
        initrd /initrd-2.6.15-1.2054_FC5.img

 

Upon changing the grub file to :

 

        title Fedora Core (2.6.16-Kernel-2.6.16.13.EL.PTY)
          root (hd0,0)
        kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.16-Kernel-2.6.16.13.EL.PTY rhgb quiet
        initrd /initrd-2.6.16-Kernel-2.6.16.13.EL.PTY.img

 

 

Its continously rebooting without loading kernel .

 

 

Can anyone one help me on this?
