"yum clean metadata" may be enough, but with the mirrors out of sync this
week it can take me several tries before it all works.  Do a "yum clean
metadata" again if the next "yum update" or whatever seems to have a bogus
number of packages -- say, it removes 500 packages and adds 30.  Just try
the "yum update" over again if it says "no more mirrors to try"; I think it
only gets 10 at a time.
