Go to /boot/grub and check the grub.conf to ensure it has been updated correctly. The "default=X" line should point to the correct "title" grouping. FWIW, don't go updating your kernel stuff at the drop of hat. Wait a while and watch the list. When people start complaining....you'll have a clue as to the direction you should take.
