meant 1 UTC on Thursday, which is 19:00 Wednesday here. My next day only
starts after the sleeping period, which is usually after 1am. Sorry, my

Just to clarify, date -d '2010-11-11 01:00:00 UTC' should spit out the correct local time for you. It gives me Wed Nov 10 20:00:00 EST 2010.
