Since F8 is put together in the USA, Red Hat is legally obligated to not
include licensed "multi-media codecs".
However, in some jurisdictions, this illegality disappears. Therefore,
if some enterprising individules living in one of those jurisdictions
could make two respins based on the Nov 8th release DVDs, we in North
America would be most appreciative. (One DVD for 32bit, the other for
64bit).
UBUNTU, being produced in Africa, is a distribution using the supposedly
illegal respins. UBUNTU asks if you wish to break the law of your
country by installing those codecs for you, and does so, assuming you
reply yes to the question.
Precedence has been set. Go for it Fedora.
What works for a distribution outside of U.S isn't the same as what
works for Fedora. If you want to do such respins, you are free to do so
but those respins would have to be rebranded.
This seems a offtopic discussion for this list anyway. Refer
fedora-devel list for similar discussions.
