= Weekly EPEL Summary =

Week 28/2007

== Most important happenings ==

 * target date for for official EPEL announcement was set back by one
week onto July the 26th. We need more time to fix all broken deps
beforehand (and make sure any new ones hit the repo). Volunteers that
help with that would be greatly appreciated.

 * discussions on the mailing list how to handle python-imaging -- it's
in EL5Client, but not in EL5Server; thus if we don't ship it users will
run into broken deps on EL5Server

== EPEL SIG Meeting ==

=== Attending ===

>From the Steering Committee:

 * dgilmore (DennisGilmore)
 * Jeff_S (Jeff Sheltren)
 * knurd (ThorstenLeemhuis)
 * mmcgrath (MikeMcGrath)
 * nirik (KevinFenzi)
 * quiad (KarstenWade)

Missing from the Steering Committee:

 * stahnma (MichaelStahnke)

Others that participated the meeting: daMaestro

=== Summary ===

 * broken deps/spam-o-magic – Jeff_S/mmcgrath

  * not much progress

  * mmcgrath still fighting with the script (the latest version seems to
depend on koji) he'll talk to mschwendt to find one for EPEL/get help

 * EPEL announcement – quiad

  * we push the estimated announce-date back by one week to 20070726 --
we need more time to fix deps (aka: "release early, but only when it's
not broken")

 * push new packages to testing after EPEL annoucement – dgilmore

  * we discussed how to handle new and updated packages in the near
future. We proceed as planed earlier: push everything to testing/ (which
will become stable with the next quarterly update) and hand-move
important updates over to stable; knurd and nirik are willing to help
with that job, as that's a manual process. We need a wiki page and/or a
e-mail alias for that. The problem will be solved with switching to
bodhi in the long term

 * new meeting time? – all (see also
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL/NewMeetingTime )

  * no new meeting time wound yet; looks a bit like everyone who edited
the page likes the current time

 * ExcludeArch TrackerBugs for EPEL – notting/knurd

  * some discussions, no agreement; discuss issue on the list again

 * free discussions

  * some derogatory comments about EPEL on another mailing list and some
discussions how to improve our docs to avoid make clear what EPEL
wants/what EPEL is about
