We have a good bunch of bugs that are waiting on the merge to add features/fix bugs. Eg. I'd like Rhythmbox to be able to tag MP3 files, Totem to play VCDs, and HAL should be rebuilt to be able to change the brightness on Dell laptops. We've been waiting for the merge to fix those bugs (the merge should have happened while we weren't frozen, IIRC), otherwise, we'd have moved some of those packages in core to be able to get this functionality.
