I think this makes a lot of sense for consistent treatment of local
administration configs.

Any chance we could have some optional boiler plate text in the init
files... encouraging admins who are editting the init files directly
to send in bugtickets so that future versions of the scripts and
associated config files can be extended to reduce the need for any
admin to make direct edits of these scripts?
