There is one already that's used by Extras already. See
https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-extras-list/2006-July/msg00635.html
for the output, the code is in cvs somewhere at
http://cvs.fedora.redhat.com/viewcvs/?root=fedora
(iirc). It checks both Core and Extras during each FE push.

Thanks. This script seems very useful. Here is output for Core:

 eclipse-changelog:
   5: 1:2.1.0_fc-2 (FC5-updates)
   6: 1:2.1.0_fc-1 (FC6)

 system-config-bind:
   5: 0:4.0.0-42_FC5 (FC5-updates)
   6: 0:4.0.0-41_FC6 (FC6)

Well, some minutes ago the script ran again -- see
https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-extras-list/2006-July/msg00660.html
for the results.

According to that list there are currently even more broken upgrade paths that need to be fixed in Core afaics:

device-mapper:
  4: 0:1.02.07-2.0 (FC4-updates)
  5: 0:1.02.02-3.2 (FC5)
  6: 0:1.02.07-1.1 (FC6)

lvm2:
  4: 0:2.02.06-1.0.fc4 (FC4-updates)
  5: 0:2.02.01-1.2.1 (FC5)
  6: 0:2.02.06-1.2.1 (FC6)

m17n-db:
  4: 0:1.3.3-1.fc4 (FE4)
  5: 0:1.3.3-1 (FC5)
  6: 0:1.3.3-13.fc6 (FC6)

mozilla:
  3: 37:1.7.13-1.3.1.legacy (FL3-updates)
  4: 37:1.7.13-1.1.fc4 (FC4-updates)
  5: 37:1.7.13-1.1.fc5 (FC5-updates)
  6: 37:1.7.13-1.1.fc5 (FC6)

perl-String-CRC32:
  4: 0:1.4-1.fc4 (FE4)
  5: 0:1.4-1.FC5 (FC5-updates)
  6: 0:1.4-1.FC6.1 (FC6)
