So... basically, I was just curious to know what the other maintainers thought of this, if it was something that should be banned, or if it could be acceptable in such circumstances. I personally don't really know, which is why I'm asking.
It's probably something that we should check in the buildsystem and explicitly disallow. At the same time, I think we also probably want to move to where we detect the things that cause a need for this earlier and be proactive about pointing out the problem.
