Fixing stuff mv fedora-core-1.xml fedora-core-1.xml.in sed -i 's/\/home\/link/_HOME_/' fedora-core-1.xml.in make install Starting the VM with GNOME Boxes I get an errror related to the machine type (I'm on F28): unsupported machine type Indeed, using "qemu-system-x86_64 -machine help" I get no pc-i440fx-3.0, (if 3.0 is the version) the newest one is pc-i440fx-2.9 Putting pc-i440fx-2.9 as the machine type in the XML file (and issuing make install again after deleting the VM), the VM starts.
