You may want to run at this stage 'rpm -qa --last >packlist' and check results to see what "old" packages still linger on your system and if you want to keep them. Also if 'yum-utils' package is available in 'extras' for your OS version then it has a utility called 'package-cleanup'. Options '--problems' and '--orphans' would be of a particular interest.
