On a system (FC3) the load usage on klogd and syslogd are very high and running all the time. I have reniced them to 19 and system loads gets back to below 1.00 and stays stable. The box was last week 1 hour not reachable because those 2 produced a (last known) load of minimal 600. The logfiles at /var/log are not big. and most ones are weekly rotated. I guess syslogd is doing things for /var/log. But what is klogd doing? The only big logfiles i know in this system are logfiles from apache (a lot virtual hosting domain names). These apache domain-logfiles rotates also every week. So do I need some tweaking/tuning somewhere? 20913 root 34 19 1552 476 408 R 0.7 0.0 35:25.76 klogd 20909 root 34 19 1604 636 524 R 0.3 0.1 26:47.30 syslogd Danny. -- fedora-legacy-list@xxxxxxxxxx https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-legacy-list
