I upgraded various servers and various distributions (RH-based) to the newer yum supplied by ATrpms some months ago. I also use the ATrpms medley-package-config package which keeps my repo's up to date without me having to do too much manual modifications. Since upgrading, I've saved time and effort in managing package updates for the servers I run, and less yum problems! As did I, once you upgrade you won't look back.
