Problem updating gcc on 7.3 via yum

I keep getting errors such as the following:

 yum update gcc
Gathering package information from servers
Getting headers from: Red Hat Linux 7.3 base
Getting headers from: Fedora Legacy utilities for Red Hat Linux 7.3
Getting headers from: Red Hat Linux 7.3 updates
Finding updated packages
Downloading needed headers
Resolving dependencies
.....identical dependency loop exceeded
package gcc-c++ needs gcc = 2.96-110 (not provided)
package gcc-c++ needs gcc = 2.96-110 (not provided)
package gcc-g77 needs gcc = 2.96-110 (not provided)
package gcc-objc needs gcc = 2.96-110 (not provided)
package gcc-c++ needs gcc = 2.96-110 (not provided)
package gcc-g77 needs gcc = 2.96-110 (not provided)
package gcc-objc needs gcc = 2.96-110 (not provided)
package gcc-c++ needs gcc = 2.96-110 (not provided)

However I do see these packages in the repositories. Please tell me how
to workaround the problem so I can update to legacy current.
