Clearly it is better not to release broken packages.

In general we don't need to strive for perfect quality, perhaps, but I
am aware that that particular package does have a large number of
security issues (based on skimming bugtraq) so I thought it was
worth mentioning.

But to be honest that has nothing to do with the reason why FL is slow.
That is down to lack of manpower.
