ethereal security problems

Red Hat fixed the security issues in Red Hat Linux 9 by upgrading to 0.10.3. Should we do this? Also, I tried to build ethereal 0.10.3 on Red Hat Linux 7.2 using mach. It builds OK after I change the net-snmp-* BuildRequires to ucd-snmp-*, but for some reason configure is setting up the Makefile to install the binaries with an i386-redhat-linux- prefix and RPM reports missing files. Any configure gurus understand why this might happen?
Thanks,
John
