If it works, don't touch it, even if it is slightly buggy. Change bad. I don't want to change anything on my 7.3 boxes, I just want to get off them, and have them work until I switch off them.
Nobody ever suggested upgrading rpm on 7.x. RH8 is the very broken one. RH9 is the somewhat broken one.
