Semi Off Topic For hardware vendors who are dealing with putting RHL-7.x onto newer hardware.. I have been working getting aic79xx into the last errata kernels. After 2 days.. I have come to remember why I am not a kernel developer :). Somewhere between the changes in 2.4.20-18 and 2.4.20-24 the driver source code from Adaptec or Justin Gibbs site will compile, but we get consistent kernel panics when running. The system dies in about 2-4 minutes with something similar to this: (scsi1:A:1:0): SCB 129 Packetized Status Overrun>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dump Card State Begins <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< scsi1: Dumping Card State at program address 0x295 Mode 0x11 Card was paused HS_MAILBOX[0x0] INTCTL[0x80] SEQINTSTAT[0x0] SAVED_MODE[0x11] DFFSTAT[0x0] SCSISIGI[0x24] SCSIPHASE[0x1] SCSIBUS[0x0] LASTPHASE[0x1] SCSISEQ0[0x0] SCSISEQ1[0x12] SEQCTL0[0x10] SEQINTCTL[0x8] SEQ_FLAGS[0xc0] SEQ_FLAGS2[0x4] SSTAT0[0x0] SSTAT1[0x19] SSTAT2[0x0] SSTAT3[0x80] PERRDIAG[0xc0] SIMODE1[0xa4] LQISTAT0[0x0] LQISTAT1[0x0] LQISTAT2[0x0] LQOSTAT0[0x0] LQOSTAT1[0x0] LQOSTAT2[0x81] Not expecting anyone on the list to have a fix... more of a gotcha to look out for clients who have to have old release on new hardware. -- Stephen John Smoogen smoogen@xxxxxxxx Los Alamos National Lab CCN-5 Sched 5/40 PH: 4-0645 Ta-03 SM-1498 MailStop B255 DP 10S Los Alamos, NM 87545 -- So shines a good deed in a weary world. = Willy Wonka --
