Hi All,

I am new to fedora-list and fedora-laptop-list... Here is an issue I raised on fedora-list, but it might be more relevant here.

Please let me know if anyone can help me to progress.

Thanks,
Bruno

Hi All,

I am trying to install the new Fedora 8 XFCE spin
(https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-announce-list/2008-February/msg00005.html)
on a very old laptop (see specs below)... but I have not succeeded yet.

i386 install media for this spin is not directly available, so I
downloaded the i386 DVD and made its content available on a http server
on my local network to start from here. Then, I still have to figure out
how to use the kickstart file in the process to end up with the XFCE
spin on my good old machine.

I burned the boot CD to start the network install, and provided the http
path for anaconda to access the packages. Anaconda then starts to
retrieve the /images/minstg2.img packages and then crashes. Here is the
message I get:
"Running anaconda 11.3.0.50, the Fedora system installer - please wait...
install exited abnormally [1/1]"
then the systems shuts down.

I assume that my config for an http install is fine as anaconda manages
to access the packages... but I can't figure out why it crashes.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks,
Bruno
