Hi

I have just installed fedora core 6 on my latitude and noticed when I
select the boot menu there appear to be two versions installed along
with my windows xp OS - the boot screen gives 3 options:

Fedora Core (2.6.19-1.2895.fc6)
Fedora Core (2.6.19-1.2798.fc6)
Windows XP

It seems to default to the first one but what are these two?

You have one installation of Fedora Core 6 on the machine, with two
different (although not much) kernels installed. The second entry is
probably the kernel that was installed when you installed Fedora, the
first item (the default) is a newer kernel installed when you (or your
system) installed available updates for your system. Nothing to worry
about - you can remove the older kernel if you never use it, but it
doesn't harm things to keep it around (or take up a lot of space
either).
