From: Prarit Bhargava on gitlab.com https://gitlab.com/cki-project/kernel-ark/-/merge_requests/2605#note_1474398592 /block (this may need to be a hard block) It's been a while and this could be one of those things that is lost to history. ISTR posting a very similar change years ago and the issue raised was what happens with 3rd party modules (ie, NVIDIA or some other company) that are installed in /lib/modules/<ver>. IIRC with my change, and with yours, those drivers would be removed. A user may or may not want that to happen and so it is unclear whether or not the modules directory can be safely removed. My counter argument at the time was that users should know what they're doing :) but as we all know, users make mistakes. I don't think we should do this yet. Let's think about the consequences of 3rd party modules. _______________________________________________ kernel mailing list -- kernel@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send an email to kernel-leave@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Fedora Code of Conduct: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/project/code-of-conduct/ List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/kernel@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Do not reply to spam, report it: https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure/new_issue
