Likely, but fwiw, I have the `%define variant -vanilla` commented out in
my builds for reasons explained here (not sure if they are still
relevant, though...):

Instead I have `%define buildid .vanilla.1` in the spec file. And from a
quick look I guess that might be the wisest solution if `--with-vanilla`
stays (which I think some users would like; but OTOH as nobody
complained about the `this does not work` for a while it might be fine
to just remote it as well...)

But removing the stuff for a specific vanilla variant it totally fine
for me, as long as the `nopatches` stuff stays, as that makes my life
easier :-D
